Pluto’s transit thru Capricorn
Posted by: marymacleanPluto thru Capricorn
Is Pluto a planet or an asteroid? Today, it is considered “a dwarf planet”. The symbolism for the energy of the planet stays the same. It is as dense as a planet can be. It takes 245 years for it to travel through the 12 signs. Pluto has an elongated elliptic and spends a dissimilar amount of time in its travels through the constellations of the zodiac. For instance, it takes 30 years to transit Taurus and 14 years to transit Scorpio and it will be in Capricorn for 16 years. There is no Pluto return because of the length of the cycle. We can only visit part of the transit during our lifetime. It is co-ruler of the constellation of Scorpio and Aries. The symbolism for this planet is transformation, upheaval and destruction of outgrown and useless systems, fallowed by regeneration. Pluto has always been associated with power; how we use it, how we get it and if we share it. It has also been tied to the obsessive/compulsive disorder.
Sometimes we need to change but are unable to do so by ourselves. Usually, it is very difficult for us as we all have deep seated fears of the unknown. That is when Pluto starts to take a role. In examining the Pluto transit, you will notice that everything that is not working in your life will dissipate, fall away or collapse under a Pluto transit. In this way Pluto gets rid of old outworn structures and then allows you to rebuild with more solid or new structures that it can support. Pluto is intense and can be obsessive no matter what sign it enters. I have noticed that when it is conjunct, square or in opposition, whatever degree that forms that aspect will be the most intense. This tells me that we are subject to one quarter of the transit on a personal level. If you have a Moon at 1 degree of Capricorn, whenever Pluto lands on that exact degree it, will intensify and continue until it moves to the next degree. When you think that it takes a month to go 2 degrees, you are going to be in the thick of it for a good part of the month. If it takes its station on that degree, you are looking at a possible 3 to 4 months. It is entering Capricorn on January 26th and stays there until June 14th, 2008. This period will give us an indication of how this energy will be working in our natal charts.
Capricorn energy is represented by structure, ambition, building foundations and practicality. It is initiatory, traditional and takes charge. Pluto entering Capricorn will take on the initiation of change. When dealing with a conjunction, there will be an ending and a new beginning. If we are looking at a square, the opportunity is to over-reach our current boundaries. The opposition is all about endings. Within the next 16 years, you will see major changes if you have any planets in Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and/or Libra. These signs are all 90 degrees or 180 degrees away from each other and will be in orb of a square aspect to transiting Pluto.
Now it is time to look at your own chart and the sequence of events that might confront you with a Pluto transit to your Natal Capricorn house. We all have Capricorn somewhere in our charts and this may help you decipher the significance of this transit for you personally. Pluto will take 16 years to complete its transit through Capricorn, indicating that it takes a long time to complete its work in any one house. Pluto entering an empty house will have an impact on that house without any planets or aspects. Planets in Capricorn or aspects to other Cardinal planets will have exponentially more impact. If the planets are the Sun or Moon, it’s nice to have a pal that will support you.

I do want to impress upon you the intensity of the Pluto transit. I don’t want you to go away from this article thinking that these are easy aspects. Even the trines are intense- intensely good. The squares are intensely difficult because we have to stretch our current reality to encompass a new challenge. I can promise you that the only sure thing is that Pluto will only be intense if it aspects a natal planet. Given the nature of the planet, it will tell you how it will express itself. Not easy. In reality these are necessary changes that we have to go thru or we would shrivel up and become useless to ourselves and others.
