Pisces

Happy Birthday Dear Pisces, we celebrate and honor the energies of your Sun Sign from February 19th, until March 20th, 2009.  You inspire us with your imagination, and your ability to let go and start anew.  Your ruling planet is Neptune and your home is in the 12th house on the zodiac wheel, a place of higher consciousness.  You are a water sign and your sign symbol is the fishes.  Pisces modality is mutable, a changeable and universal sign that often speaks “I believe”, “I imagine” and cares about everyone and everything.

Pisceans consider them selves the personification of truth, and set a high value on right thinking.  They love the unknown and mysterious and are often drawn to the study of spirituality and mysticism.  Pisceans are natural worries you might relate to the prophetic words of Shakespeare:

In sooth, I know not why I am so sad:

It wearies me; you say it wearies you;

But how I caught it, found it, or came by it,

What stuff ‘tis made of, whereof it is born,

I am to learn;

And such a want-wit sadness makes of me

That I have much ado to know myself

You are the oldest sign in the zodiac, amiable, sweet tempered, very socially inclined, and exceedingly likable.  Pisces you have a poetic soul, strong imagination, and creative vision, you connect.  There is a secretive side to Pisces, and those that know you often find that they don’t really know you at all.

Ruling Planet Neptune

In Roman mythology Neptune is the god of the sea, and the deep, and the ocean blue color of the planet Neptune reflects this. Its glyph is taken directly from Neptune’s trident a 3 pronged spear for fishing. Neptune is the dissolver of form, intangibility, refinement, and idealism, it is about the capacity to transcend the finite self through feeling unity with the greater whole.

Anderton highlights this planetary energy perfectly: “I am Neptune and I am a sea that has no form.  I bring you the Law of Faith and a potion so strong that you will dissolve and become the vast ocean of life.  You are no longer a drop in the ocean, you are the ocean.  You are no longer the river; you are the water flowing into the sea.  Have faith and dissolve in my Mystic Ray, and give yourself to the sea. Again, I am Neptune and I bring you the Law of Faith, I reminded you that you have existed and will exist for all time.”

Modern Western astrologers associate the planet Neptune with idealism and compassion, but also with illusion, confusion and deception. It is also associated with religions, spirituality and mysticism, the mass media, creativity in art and music, drugs, extreme sensitivity, fantasy imagination, psychic phenomena and altered mental states, dreamy, responsive, impressionable, and a sensitive spirit.

 Neptune governs hospitals, prisons, mental institutions, the past and any place such as a monastery, that involves a retreat from society.  Modern astrologers consider Neptune the ruler of Pisces, but prior to the discovery of Neptune 1846, Jupiter was the ruler of Pisces, today some astrologers consider Jupiter a co-ruler of Pisces.

Neptune’s function and Pisces goal to urge within the human psyche to strive towards religious experience and insight into the reality behind outward forms.  His planetary energy is subtle and refined, and inspirational, it also governs the feet.

12th House

There are 12 heavenly houses and they are often called “palaces of the sky” the house and sign relationships are harmonious to each other.  The 12th house is often associated with mediumship, subconscious, connection to the higher consciousness, secrets, silence, enemies, imprisonment and tears and isolation.

The Zodiac wheel turns, and each subsequent sign becomes a little more evolved carrying a seed of each of the previous signs, from Aries to Pisces.  By the time we arrive at the 12th house we find a vestige of each of the previous eleven signs in its complex soul, we call Pisces.

Traditionally In the 12th house you will find Pisces overtones of sensitivity, caring, compassion and naïve idealism.  Pisceans are more comfortable working behind the scenes.  In the 12th house Pisces speaks of devotion to higher ideals and spiritual values, social service collective soul or karma.

Element Water/Symbol

The element of water corresponds to the emotional realm of feeling, nurturing, hidden, and sensitive and represents the energy and power of unconscious forces that motivate us.  Each of the water signs express themselves differently, Pisces is the most fluid and watery of all, even more than Cancer.

The symbol for Pisces is the Fishes, and they represent “go with the flow”, the fish symbol has been used in many cultures as a symbol of fertility.  Pagan gods and goddesses that could be associated with the fish symbol include the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, and her son Eros. One of the most popular stories regarding the mythological origin of Pisces and symbol of the fish is the story of Aphrodite and Eros.

The story involves Aphrodite and her son Eros escaping from the terrible monster Typhon by turning themselves into fish and hiding underwater until it was safe to come back to the surface. As fish, they tied their tails together with a cord so that they wouldn’t lose one another while swimming in the darkness of the deep water.  Upon hearing their tale, Zeus rewarded the pair by placing them among the stars as the constellation of Pisces.

The sign symbol of the two fishes swimming in opposite directions, the most obvious interpretation of the symbology is the inability to take decisive action.  Pisceans wrestle with each of the opposing urges represented by the two fish.  One side wants to rescue others and the other side drowns in the depths of the unconscious.  Of the 12 signs in the zodiac you are the most sensitive, you will find that solitude replenishes your system and helps you reestablish your boundaries and your sense of self.

You are a mutable sign, adapting to learning, and you are very good at coming up with ideas.  Mutable signs correspond to spiralic patterns of energy that can resolve conflict because they adapt and they can make changes they deem necessary.  The mutable Gemini,Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are perfect go-between, making contacts and connections.  However they can be overly changeable and restless.

In addition to Sun Sign, Planet Placement, Ascendant, Aspects etc. astrologer also look at orientations “how we meet the world.” Orientation provides a final looking glass through which we may view our zodiacal friends, and refers to three stages of relationship between the individual and his or her environment.

The unfolding of these orientations parallels the evolution of the twelve zodiac signs.  The first stage is personal, second interpersonal and finally transpersonal.  Pisceans are transpersonal, they focus on ideals, abstractions, they often feel out of place in the mundane world.  They want to discover the meaning of life, they dream of unconditional love, and seeking spirituality and mysticism for their answers.

Now let us look at compatibility, Pisces is naturally compatible with the other water signs Cancer and Scorpio. For you Pisces, the earth signs Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo can help you shape and channel your engergies. There are many variables that determine compatibility in astrology, such as birth dates, birth years, position of a sign within the Zodiac, such as placement of the Sun, the Moon, the Ascendant, and aspects.
