Jupiter in Pisces by Vickie Kayser

I am “Jupiter” the Great Benefic…… the planet of faith, I am positive, I am about prosperity and optimism, and I am about expansion!

Many of you know me from Astrology, Astronomy, Roman and Greek Mythology and religious beliefs of many cultures.  I am the largest planet in your solar system approximately 88,000 miles in diameter, and 484 million miles from your Sun.  It takes me about 11.86 years to orbit your Sun, and my magnetic field is 20,000 times stronger than that of your planet Earth.  I spin so fast that I expand like a balloon in all directions.

Astrologers and Astronomers often refer to me as one of the Jovian planets, because I am far from your Sun, gaseous, and large, with many satellites’ and rings’.  Astronomy is very fascinating and important to the study of Astrology; one often leads to the other.  In addition some of your words are used in both sciences; you share your preoccupation with the skies.  Astrologers say I am jovial, expansive, generous and benign, the signs and houses in which you find me in your natal chart will tell you where and how you have been blessed.  I am known as the planet of plenty!

Astrologers and Astronomers of ancient times were awed by my brilliance; the Babylonians thought I was their God Marduk.  I am the third brightest planet in your sky, spectacular, with brightly colored clouds and intense storms, some going on for over 300 years.  Once in a while your planet Mars can match my brightness but only briefly, it usually takes an opposition for that to happen.

It has been documented that Galileo, Father of modern astronomy discovered several of my moons: Ganymeda, Callisto, Io, and Europa, in 1610.  Or was it the astronomer Simon Marius in 1609?  Who knows for sure?  Anyway Galileo was the first to document his findings.  He often referred to my moons as the Medicean Planets that he named after an Italian bourgeois family that ruled Florence and later Tuscany.  Why did he name my moons after them you might ask, well……. the Medici family, they were very persistent.

My namesake is “King of the Roman Gods” in Roman Mythology they called me “Jupiter” or “Jove”, god of the sky and my symbol was the thunderbolt.  I was known to shake things up a bit and I could get very thunderous and domineering!  As the patron deity of ancient Rome I ruled over law and social order, I am an honorable, kind and benevolent planet too!  The Greeks called me “Zeus”, “Father God the Best and Greatest” and king of the heaven’s and your Earth.  I ruled the world from atop of Mt. Olympus, what a grand place.  When Greek culture found its way into Egypt both astronomy and astrology were actively cultivated.

One of your very famous first century poet’s Manilius described me as temperate, benign and the “Great Benefic.”  Astrologers also know me as the “Great Benefic” they call me this because I rule the process of growth, preservation and I symbolize increase and expansion.  Each year I bring good fortune, benevolence, abundance and prosperity to a sign in your zodiac.

Since it takes me approximately 11.86 years to orbit your Sun, I visit each Sun Sign for about one year.  This year it is you sweet Pisces, we meet January 19th 2010.  I have a big surprise for all of you, this year I will also visit energetic Aries on the 7th of June until September.  Then I retrograde and settle back into the sign of Pisces on September 10th.

Now before we move on I want to tell you this is an exciting year!!!!!!!!!  We find that an old decade has ended and a new one begins, 2010 brings a number of changes in regards to your Cosmos.  Saturn has moved into the sign of Libra and will retrograde back into Virgo on the 8th of April, just to finish up some old business.

There is more, Uranus picks up Aries on the 29th of May and joins me Jupiter in the sign of Aries.  I believe your astrologers call this aspect a conjunction, but you better ask you astrologer!  Oh wait! Uranus retrogrades back into Pisces August 15th, enough about the other planets and signs.  But before we move on remember planets, houses and aspects are very important in your birth chart.  They are the key to knowing how the current planetary transits will impact your life, better get out your natal chart out.

Now that you have your natal chart out where is Jupiter?  Where is the sign of Pisces, what house or houses does she occupy.  Where is the sign of Aries, what house or houses does he occupy?  What will my (Jupiter) aspects be to Saturn and Uranus?  What area of your chart will I bring expansion, luck, prosperity and optimism; these are the glamour’s and skilled expressions of my personality.

Since this article is about me “Jupiter” I don’t want to stray to far from what I have come to tell you about myself and my two companions’ “Pisces” and “Aries.”  When I meet a Sun Sign in the zodiac expect expansion, intellectually and physically; watch your weight!  If I were to bring financial fortune what are you going to invest in?  There is an unskilled side to my personality I have been known to over indulge.  I know this surprise you!  I enjoy fine food and drink, sometimes I gamble to excess, and a few other things I would rather not mention!  Use your imagination.  Even too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

My primary concern when I visit a Sun Sign is to encourage you to expand, or force you to expand (encourage is such a nicer word!)  Anyway I want you to learn about yourself and others by increasing your awareness about other cultures, become a traveler, a seeker!  I want you to create more optimism, and more loyalty and justice for all!  Ask yourself, do I have too much?  How much is enough?  Am I being fair to others in my quests?  Remember that I have a strong social dimension, I rule law, the legal system, persons of power, and government officials; a function I share with your Sun.

Now that I have told you how I would like you to proceed I offer a little reminder.  In ancient times I “Jupiter” protected the city of Rome and I had the power to punish as well as reward their warriors.  Sometimes if things didn’t work out the way I wanted I pierced the sky, and hurled a few thunderbolts around, it was very exhilarating!!  The ancients’ know me well; don’t worry I have become more civilized.

I am “Jupiter” king of your heavens, ruler of Sagittarius the Archer or some know him as the Centaur, half man and half horse.  Sagittarians are also known as the seeker, the explorer, and are at home is the ninth house on the zodiac wheel.  He loves adventure, taking risk, freedom and independence.  While I “Jupiter” expand in every direction, Sagittarius seeks to broaden your vision of reality; he will assist you in your quests by helping you seek out and explore the realms of ethics, philosophy and religion.

Sagittarian’s embraces my ideals, not because I am his ruler but because he knows that the key to better understanding is through experience, higher education and/or foreign travel.  You see Sagittarius and I are partners; I bring faith, hope and vision to assist my dear explorer, especially when he finds himself deluded, impractical, and extravagant.

It is time to discuss the sign of Pisces because as I have told you we will be spending time with each other this year.  I could go on forever about myself and Sagittarius.  I once ruled Pisces the sign of Fishes the dreamer who lives in the twelfth house on the zodiac wheel, but now your astrologers say Neptune rules Pisces.  Neptune is the mystic, and symbolizes ones capacity to transcend the self by experiencing unity with all that is.

Pisces embraces the ideals set out by Neptune, helping us to broaden our vision of humanity and oneness.  Pisces is creative imaginative, compassionate, and the most sensitive and artistic of all the other Sun Signs.  Now let us take a look at our energetic Aries, we will join each other June 7th until September 9th, then I reunite with Pisces on the 10th.

Aries the Ram is the first sign of the zodiac and likes being independent.  He is known as the pioneer, his key phrase is “I am”.  Aries symbolizes beginnings; he is a self starter who sometimes has difficulty finishing what he starts.  Mars rules Aries; your Sun helps you formulate your goals while Mars energy helps you purse them.  Mars the warrior rules Aries in the first house; I think that is probably why he symbolizes new beginnings.  I always call Mars the action planet; he initiates and has many personal desires!

Aries and Sagittarius are fire signs and represent the spark of life.  They are internally motivated, positive, enthusiastic, and spontaneous.  When Mars “Mr. Action” joins me “Jupiter” and Sagittarius the sign I rule over something happens.  The fiery energy of Mars moves you in one direction while me “Jupiter” of course, expands some area of your life.  It might be a birth, a marriage, a partnership and/ or travel.  What will manifest this year for you?

When I “Jupiter” the jovial planet transit your Sun Sign understand that this is the beginning of a major cycle of growth for you, 12 years to be exact!  Remember that is approximately how long it takes for us to meet again.  Be clear about where you are going and how you are going to get there.  Use your natal chart to show you areas of potential for personal growth.  “BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD” words from one of your renowned spiritual leaders Gandhi, I can not say it better!

Overall my transits are usually quite pleasant and often very beneficial.  Whatever you set out to do usually succeeds “be careful what you wish for.”   This is a great time to initiate personal change, increase and expand your self knowledge, and self awareness.  A time to get to know others and yourself more deeply and compassionately, compliments of me “Jupiter” the Great Benefic, and the signs of “Pisces” the Dreamer, and “Aries” the Pioneer.  We have to include “Sagittarius” the Explorer and Seeker, remember we are partners, I rule this sign and he embraces my ideals.  Find out how the planets, signs, houses and aspects can help you learn, about your multi- dimensional self; be co-creator of your destiny!

Your personal natal chart can speak to you, let it be your messenger, it can help you chart your future and create positive changes.  If you feel lost use it to identify your personality traits what ever they might be, or use it to illuminate your path.  You might find a new you and new ways to express your highest potential.  Seek and you shall find!

Tracy Marks is a gifted poet and astrologer her words of wisdom fit perfectly:

“And than the chart spoke…

I am a map, it said,

but not a compass.

a guidebook,

but not a guide.

In broad lines I sketch for you

a dozen aspects, roads

 which you may travel

but you alone must choose

which one to follow,

must fill out its form

with the footsteps of your own

experience.”

Best Wishes To You On Your Journey in 2010,

Sincerely:

Jupiter
